Get Empowered! immerses participants in custom designed creative and positive experiences that help open hearts and minds in support of learning, growth, leadership, wellness, life and work skills development. Built on a foundation of diversity inclusion and creating a safe, welcoming space for all, they connect people in ways that allows them to tap into their individual and collective strengths while giving....and getting empowered!

Get Empowered! facilitates Music, Movement, and Mindfulness classes for every student at NOCCS. Through Get Empowered!, and visuals arts classes taught by Ms. Mercer, celebrate and teach about every culture represented at NOCCS. They are part of our commitment to being an intentionally diverse school.

Reading Partners is a national nonprofit that mobilizes communities to provide students with the proven, individualized reading support they need to read at grade level by fourth grade.

We know that reading is the foundation for all future learning. The ability to read transforms lives and empowers children and communities to reach their full potential. Research shows that students who read at grade level by fourth grade have a greater opportunity to succeed in school and beyond.

Reading Partners works with schools like NOCCS to engage volunteer reading partners to work one-on-one with students who struggle with reading. Our volunteers provide hour-long tutoring sessions to students— following a structured, evidence-based curriculum developed with an expert team of curriculum advisors. Each year NOCCS hosts an Americorps volunteer who recruits and trains volunteers, including NOCCS families! Consider volunteering to support NOCCS scholars!
